The safety and welfare of our students
The Head of Student Services, Kathryn Caulfield, is the senior member of staff responsible for Safeguarding and offers support and guidance to staff and students about all aspects of student welfare.
The College is committed to providing our students with a safe and secure environment. It was noted in the recent student and parent surveys that 98% of our students and parents believe that The Henley College is a safe place to be.
The College believes strongly that our students and staff respect the rights of others, report inappropriate behaviour and do not tolerate or accept any form of bullying or discrimination.
Child Protection, Prevent and Safeguarding Policies
The College has a dedicated Safeguarding Team and the Designated Safeguarding Person, Kathryn Caulfield, is responsible for child protection and safeguarding matters. All staff have received safeguarding and Prevent training.
Substance and Alcohol Policy
The College has a zero tolerance policy for both substance and alcohol misuse. No student must be under the influence of, or have possession of drugs or alcohol during the College day.
SOCIAL MEDIA AND NETWORKING POLICY
Our students will be reminded about on line safety throughout their time at the College and they will be actively encouraged to be safe when using the internet.
Student Code of Conduct
Our Code of Conduct sets out the College commitments and student commitments. It states what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour an all students will be issued with the code of conduct when they start at the College.
The College has dedicated Counsellors available and a College Nurse offering drop-in sessions throughout the week. All students will be given a Professional Tutor who will offer pastoral and academic support. There are three Senior Tutors at the College, a Student Services Team and a Safeguarding Team, all offering support to our students.
We have “safe places” on both the Rotherfield and Deanfield Sites, clearly signposted for those students who have worries, anxieties or concerns.
