How much does it cost?
If the apprentice is aged between 16 and 18, 100% of the cost of the apprenticeship training is funded by the SFA.
If they are aged 19 or over they are only part-funded, so a contribution from the employer will be required.
The funding is sent directly to the College.
The way the government funds apprenticeships in England is changing. From April 2017 all employers operating in the UK with an annual pay bill of over £3 million will be required to contribute to the new apprenticeship levy. Employers are being encouraged to use this contribution by investing in training apprentices.
