One lesson per week will take place in the language laboratory in order to enhance listening comprehension skills, as well as allowing students to research cultural topics or current affairs issues relating to Germany (or German speaking countries).
Oral and written papers combining listening, reading and writing.
Standard entry requirements, plus Grade 5 in GCSE German or a similar level of competence. Grade 5 in GCSE English and grade 4 in Maths.
A dictionary for work at home is advised plus optional field trips.
This programme is designed to support students with the potential of achieving high grades at A Level and Vocational Diploma and helps to prepare them for Oxford, Cambridge and the Russell Group Universities.
This programme targets students who have a high potential to excel in their sport, either by competing on the international stage or securing a professional contract.
This programme offers all students at the College an opportunity to develop their skills and fitness to a high level. It is not exclusive to Sports students or elite sportspeople.
There are a wide range of opportunities for students who can speak another language, including roles in international business, translation/interpretation, editing/proofreading, travel and tourism, hospitality, foreign service and teaching.
A key course for students planning to study or work in a German speaking country or continue on to University to study languages and related subjects. It also provides a strong grounding for those wishing to pursue many other subject areas at degree level. Languages are of growing significance in our globalised world and multi-lingual employees are highly sought after by organisations worldwide.
|Course:||A LEVEL GERMAN|
I came to The Henley College from Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre. I chose German to gain further proficiency in the language and discover German culture through the syllabus. I also knew that the lessons would be taught by native speakers, and this influenced my decision greatly as I enjoy practising my language skills. The part of the course I enjoy the most is learning about life in Germany and German culture. I also enjoy the weekly speaking practice sessions with the German language assistant.
I would like to study German at university with the aim of becoming fluent and perhaps living and working in Germany one day!
